One-Line Bio

The Bible and real life, as seen by Scott Morgan...husband, father, pastor, neighbor, Christian living in Hanover, PA.

I was born in Washington, DC, and grew up in Maryland. When I was 13 years old I trusted Jesus Christ to save me. Dawn and I have been married for 24 years, and together we are rearing five children, ages 14-23. I have served at three churches in MD and PA over the past 24 years. Dawn and I graduated from Washington Bible College in 1981, and right now I am working on a MDiv degree through the Advancement in Ministry program at Columbia Biblical Seminary in SC. Outside the Blogosphere I serve as the senior pastor at Littlestown Chapel -- Outreach for Christ, an independent Bible church located in south-central Pennsylvania near Gettysburg. For the past 9.5 years I've had the privilege of serving the Lord there.

Scott's Bible Blog is an experiment in helping myself and other people dig deeper into God's Word.

I have to admit that I've stewed about the title for this blog for many days. At the risk of possibly sounding both arrogant and hokey at the same time I have chosen "Scott's Bible Blog" because it's an easy way to remember the purpose of the blog. And just what is the purpose of Scott's Bible Blog? A pastor friend of mine told me years ago that we need to

"Learn the Word of God to know the Will of God to do the Work of God."

If that happens in your life and mine through the postings on this blog, then our time and effort have been worth it. There are four things I am hoping for, that together we can...

Increase in our knowledge of God's Word and how it applies to our everyday lives.

Learn the skills for studying the Bible in simple, fun, and practical ways.

Grow in confidence in the trustworthiness of the Bible.

Share some laughs along the way.

So, as the pastor-blogger on this site (yes, it is a new spiritual gift), I am inviting you to join me on the journey as we learn to become doers of God's Word. I think that we can learn a lot from each other and from the Lord. I look forward to hearing from you!
